howdy, I'm bel.

i'm in the business of creating nice things.
I couldn't make them with a paintbrush, though — so I went digital and didn't look back.
It started with wacky internet memes and a simple knack for expressing myself through media. It's become an affinity for design, video production and user experiences that just make sense.
I'm currently on a quest to make digital health records more intuitive. (Translation: I'm a UX advisor for this app called MyChart.) It's an endeavor that somehow landed me in cheesy 🧀, breezy 🌬️, freezy ❄️ Wisconsin.
Before my big healthcare adventure, I rocked several creative hats while attending the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.
Previous labels include photo/videographer, social media manager and graphic artist. I've also got two marketing internships under my belt and even squeezed in a national ad competition last year.
besides that...
I'm an expert on cats, the paranormal and finding hidden gems off the beaten path by zooming in on Google Maps.
So anyway, if you have pet pics, ghost stories or a concept you'd like to make real, I'm there.
the method to my madness.
step 1: ideate
Where the ol' noggin roams free. This phase is for brainstorming without judgment, gathering inspo and generating a wide range of potential solutions to the problem at hand.
step 2: marinate
Letting it all sink in. Once I have a pool of ideas, I'll give it a sec to simmer in my mind. I use this time to reflect, consolidate my thoughts and uncover insights by finding order in the chaos.
step 3: collaborate
For second, third and fourth opinions. This stage involves sharing my hunches. I check for blind spots in my reasoning, seek fresh viewpoints and refine concepts through discussion.
step 4: evaluate
Where judgment's more than welcome. With the creative ball rolling, the next step is to put winning ideas under a microscope. The goal is to identify the most viable approach and run with it.
step 5: iterate
... And reiterate, 'til it feels right. The best part — executing the plan. Gathering feedback and improving incrementally until we've got a polished product is the name of the game.
